„We are completely satisfied,“ sums up the response at Think Abele to the Showtech 2011. Domestic visitor numbers may have been down but the quality of the contacts was „surprisingly good,“ according to Andrew Abele, the company’s Managing Director. „That was particularly true of enquiries from abroad.“
Think Abele noted particularly keen interest in the kinetic solutions from Movecat. The SIL 3 system solutions in particular were a focal point of attention from visitors. SIL stands for Safety Integrity Level and is based on the EN 61508 safety standard or the international standard IEC 61508. It was the conformity of the kinetic solutions from Movecat with SIL 3 that led recently to the decision to use Movecat equipment for the Eurovision Song Contest.
A great deal of attention at the Showtech also centred on the newly certified Expert-T II (SIL 1 to 3) control console from Movecat. Compared with its predecessor, both the hardware and the software of the new model have been optimized. The controller features inter alia a new processor for a faster 3D display and additional input encoders to permit all program calls to be influenced dynamically even during runs. With the integrated 3D SpaceNavigator for the control of the WYSIWYG 3D graphic function, all the functions of the three dimensional stage view such as Zoom, Turn, Move and Rotate can be controlled with one hand, simply and intuitively without needing to change operating levels.
The controller, which is recommended for even the most complex projects with cross actions, was developed for applications with up to 240 drives. All the setups can be controlled and supervised with fixed or variable speeds. With the Expert-T II both horizontal (hoists as well as platforms) and vertical (in all directions) as well as rotational movements (turntables, for example) are possible.
