Converted Berlin substation equipped with Movecat D8 Plus System

The electrical substation in Alexanderplatz, built in 1960 and once East Berlin’s principal source of energy, was only shut down in 2002. Today the substation is available for use as an events location and provides the ideal setting for a wide variety of events such as presentations, meetings, receptions and even parties with up to 1,600 guests.

The venue was fitted with media equipment by Movecat partner Ambion from Wuppertal, Germany, the installation featuring inter alia a total of sixteen Movecat Plus-C 250-4 D8 Plus chain hoists with incremental encoders and the new LME load measuring eyelets in dual chainfall operation with safe working loads of 500 kg per drive. The use of the fully integrated load measurement eyelets permits precise evaluation of load conditions even in the case of statically indeterminate systems. This is even possible without any sacrifice in terms of installation height.

In conjunction with MPC 4ID8-I digital motor controllers, the igvw SQ P2 standard is complied with in full. The performance has even been considerably enhanced through programmed target runs as well as supervision of the run direction and speed. At the same time, swift changeovers and 100% reproducibility are possible despite frequently changing spatial and technical constraints.

Comments Oliver Jonekeit of Ambion: „As long-time partners of Movecat, we are convinced not only by the safety and quality of the system but also by the standard of service.“
