Indoor game features chain hoists, system controllers and i-Motion network
It was 16 years ago that the first edition of the reality TV format Big Brother got underway in The Netherlands. Since the end of 2015, Turkey, too, has its own franchise of the internationally successful Endemol production. Over the course of 100 days, the 16 participants in the first series of the Turkish Big Brother are battling it out in a series of competitions and games staged in the ‘container’ in a secret location in Istanbul. For one of these games in the indoor studio, the Turkish events service provider Benart Light Sound, Stage and Vision Systems relied upon kinetic solutions from Movecat.
The apparatus for the game comprised four cable cars on rails attached to a 7 x 11 m moveable truss structure. Hanging from these, the candidates had to traverse the area repeatedly. For the vertical movement of the structure, including its sideways tilt, Benart relied upon a total of eight motor-powered VMK-S 500-24-24 chain hoists from Movecat, with eight V-Motion-40-E (SIL3) power packs in the rack for the supervision of all functions and run commands. Not only the VMD-S hoists but also the V-Motion Power Packs comply with the BGV C1 / DGUV V17 accident prevention regulations as well as safety integrity level (SIL) 3.
Control of the eight chain hoists was provided by a Movecat I-Motion Expert-T II SIL3 system controller in accordance with BGV C1 and SIL 3. Between the control console and the V-Motion-40-E power packs, the team from Benart, which has taken over the exclusive distribution of Movecat products in Turkey, introduced two I-Motion NDB-6 network distribution boxes from Movecat for the closed i-Motion network.
