At this year’s Prolight + Sound show in Frankfurt, Movecat presented for the first time the new MK II version of its VMW-S 125-3-30 Entertainment Winch. In comparison to that of its predecessor, the performance of the new winch has been optimized in numerous areas.
New features include a non-welded aluminium frame construction in the popular 52 cm truss format, the full load handling qualities of which are retained even when the device is used as a bearing structure. A variety of truss connector solutions can be employed as options. At the same time, the overall weight has been reduced to 203 kg. The maintenance-free basic structure is powder-coated in matt black. Furthermore, the operating and emergency limit switches can now be easily adjusted from the outside.
The VMS-S 125-3-30 is capable of hoisting loads of up to 125 kg, the acceleration being continuously variable within the range +/- 3m/sec², and is equipped with a maintenance-free silent double brake with contact-free monitoring as well as offering an integrated emergency lowering function. Not only is the winch now quieter, but it complies with the BGV C1 and DGUV V17 standards for manned airframes. The winch meets the requirements of DIN 56950-1 as well as EN 61508 and when combined with Movecat’s I-Motion control components conforms to SIL 3.
The VMW-S 125-3-30 features an integrated cable guide with the cable outlet placed centrally on the front side, the hoisting height having been increased to 30 m. This allows optimal load distribution in truss applications as well as safe operation of manned airframes with two opposed winches. Only 18 centimetres separate the two opposed cables.
Among the technical refinements of the new Entertainment Winch are a dynamic load-measuring system that functions in any installation position and is isolated from the drive influences usually encountered. The effective load can therefore be determined and assessed in any installation position.
The VMW-S 125-3-30 Entertainment Winch offers 360° x 360° functionality, which means that it can be employed freely in any installation position – whether lying down, standing or flown.
Tried and tested in the Movecat V series, a status board displaying the most important function parameters is also integrated by the VMW-S 125-3-30, along with DIN 56950-1 functions for the separate testing of the brakes and limit switch functions. Both brakes are equipped with a manual release lever for the controlled lowering of suspended loads/persons in case of emergency. When combined with the V-Motion 75E, the new Entertainment Winch can be integrated into Movecat’s I-Motion network.
