Movecat has presented in public for the first time the ‚little brother‘ of the Expert-T II console: the I-Motion Basic-C. The I-Motion Basic-C is a compact, portable system controller for the systemic control of kinetic drives. The flexible device in desktop format is equipped with an integrated dynamic control lever with a dead-man function, an ergonomic hand rest, a 12″ 4C touch screen and an input keyboard. It is also equipped with a speed ratio control: a high-resolution rotary encoder with a push-button function.
In terms of connectivity, users are spoilt for choice: three USB ports for external devices such as a mouse, trackball, keyboard or memory stick are built in and a VGA output is also provided for the connection of an external monitor. Two I-Net outputs allow connection via cable to the I-Motion network.
An ID chip card reader with user level evaluation and an integrated UPS module with a mains filter providing effective protection against power outages are also available. The function set includes self-testing of the device prior to system enabling and group-transcending error monitoring in network applications. The Basic-C Show Controller is delivered as standard in a robust metal housing and optionally also with a shock-mount road case.
With the I-Motion software and its Object Mode, the Basic-C controller simplifies the programming of scene changes involving complex groups with multiple drives, offers an effects engine for dynamic 3D transformations and affords a 3D view of the drives. Users can also opt for a 2D display. Different views, rotation and zoom functions are also supported. The user therefore enjoys an overview of the entire system and direct access to all parameters and details.
Complex target and group runs – depending upon the hoist/drive configuration – can be programmed and loaded, even when these involve possible interactions. An appropriately modern SSD storage device is used for the saving of system parameters as well as numerous presets. Logbook data can be inspected and exported and project data imported from, and exported to, servers and mobile storage devices. The I-Motion software even functions on an external PC in offline mode.
The Basic-C Controller is perfectly suited to variable-speed drives. Furthermore, mixed groups of up to twenty-four D8, D8 Plus and C1 drives with fixed or variable speeds can be controlled and monitored. The show controller is specially recommended in combination with the MPC I-series and V-Motion controllers for small to medium sized productions in accordance with BGV C1 and SIL 3 in which it is desired to control shows involving vario drives using a dynamic control lever. It is fully system- and software-compatible with the I-Motion Expert-T controllers and can also be used as a backup system.
